Dr. Yvonne Swanson DPT, OCS

Dr. Yvonne Swanson, who started with Performance Physical Therapy in 2004, is a physical therapist at our East Greenwich location. She is also a partner, Performance’s Chief Compliance Officer and a Regional Executive for Performance’s southern RI clinics. Dr. Swanson received an undergraduate degree in Human Science and Services and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island. In 2016, she earned a transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy combined with Executive Program in Practice Management certificate from the Institute of Evidence in Motion. 


Dr. Swanson is an American Physical Therapist Association member in both the Private Practice and Orthopedic Sections. She’s also a clinical instructor for physical therapy doctoral students, a faculty member of the Performance Physical Therapy Residency Program, an advisor and educator to local athletes and coaches, and in past years she has presented on professionalism for URI Doctoral Students. 


Dr. Swanson specializes in back and neck pain, general orthopedic rehabilitation and prevention, sports injuries, foot and ankle biomechanics, functional dry needling and strategic planning for clinical compliance. She loves troubleshooting challenges and coming up with solutions with her patients and in her other roles in Performance. 


Dr. Swanson was born in England and moved to the U.S. as a child, initially living in Vermont before moving to Rhode Island, where she’s made North Kingstown home.  She enjoys having fun with her three boys and the being in the great outdoors. She especially loves gardening, jogging, hiking, snowboarding, occasionally relaxing in garden pubs and watching Victoria and mysteries on Masterpiece Theatre.
