The ‘Care to Wear’ beneficiary for July was the Nonviolence Institute. The Performance Physical Therapy team dressed down on Fridays to raise awareness and funds for this organization.
The Nonviolence Institute was chosen by staff members at Performance as a way to support our local community in the fight against racial discrimination. Members of our staff were also given the option to sit in on a presentation by their teen ambassadors on the principles of nonviolence and how they can be used in everyday life.
Who is the Nonviolence Institute?
The mission of the Nonviolence Institute is to teach, by word and example, the principles and practices of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. They work each day to build a Beloved Healthy Community reflective of the actions and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“It's not what you say that makes a difference in somebody's life, it's what you consistently do that touches and impacts your community," says Interim Executive Director, Cedric Huntley.
What Can I Do Now For The Nonviolence Institute?
Care to Wear at Performance Physical Therapy: Our purpose is ‘to empower our community to lead healthy, fulfilling, and happy lives’. Every month we raise awareness of community organizations that align with our purpose by dressing down, volunteering, and raising funds. Our goal is for 100% of Performance Physical Therapy team members to be active in philanthropic initiatives to empower everyone in our community to lead healthy, fulfilling and happy lives.
