Dr. Kayleigh Melroy

Dr. Kayleigh Melroy, DPT, OCS, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2014 and is now the  Clinic Director and physical therapist at our Middletown location. Dr. Melroy has a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Health Studies, a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, and a minor in Dance, all from Ithaca College. While at Ithaca, she served as the coxswain on the rowing team. Dr. Melroy is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and has been certified in functional dry needling. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science.

A dancer herself, Dr. Melroy specializes in performing arts and dance rehabilitation, providing physical therapy services to traveling companies performing at the Providence Performing Arts Center, and to the Island Moving Company, Newport’s professional contemporary ballet company, where in previous years she served on the Board of Directors. In addition to performing arts and dance rehabilitation, Dr. Melroy also specializes in spinal rehabilitation, orthopedic, neurological and post-surgical rehabilitation, hip pathology, and functional dry needling.

An avid skier as well, Dr. Melroy has previously volunteered with the Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports program at Pico Mountain. Her favorite places to ski at are Okemo and Jackson Hole.

When she’s not in the clinic, dancing ballet, or skiing the slopes, Dr. Melroy enjoys sailing, spending time with her a fiancé, Brian and her dog, Tucker. She urges her patients to find 30 minutes each day to do exercise and to work on cultivating a work/life balance. And, she says, stay positive: “If you focus on the positive, you will feel better, mentally and physically.”
