About the Program

PPT’s Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) program consists of advanced post-graduate clinical and didactic education for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. The program is built upon evidence-based research and lead by a staff of Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialists. Our goal is to enhance the clinician’s knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to become experts in the field of orthopedic physical therapy. The participant can elect to pursue advanced post-professional education through two pathways

Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) pathway

  • Designed for the clinician who is seeking advanced post-professional education but is unable to commit to the rigors of PPT’s full-time residency program.

  • Can be completed in as few as 12 months or up to 24 months.

  • Program consists of five management courses which cover evidence-based assessment and treatment of cervicothoracic, lumbopelvic, upper extremity, lower extremity, and chronic pain conditions.

  • Didactic portion of the program is 100% virtual and self-paced, allowing the clinician greater flexibility in their post-professional education to help balance their work and home life.

  • Program also includes multiple in-person weekend laboratory intensives designed to reinforce learned assessment and treatment strategies covered in the didactic courses via a hands-on approach.

  • Participant will receive the designation of COMT upon successful completion of all program requirements.

  • Those enrolled in the COMT program will also gain access to the OCS prep course at the end of the program

Continuing Education (CE) Pathway

The continuing education pathway is designed for clinicians who prefer to take part in individual components of the COMT program “à la carte” if they prefer not to go through the full program. Clinicians may elect to participate in the full COMT pathway if they choose to do so as long as all coursework is completed within 24-months of the first course.
